Oakley is the cornerstone of Arkansas River Goldens. He was born December 29, 2011. Both of his parents were beautiful, high-energy dogs. His sire was a light gold and his mother was a deep red color. Oakley is somewhere in between with a beautiful medium red-gold outer coat, but a lighter blond undercoat. Oakley is a very intelligent, very high-energy dog with a personality like none other. We can't brag that we've done a great job teaching him good manners, but he's got a few tricks up his paws that he was able to learn very quickly. Physically, he is built much like a hunting and field dog. He is extremely athletic and lean, with great speed and the ability to jump over four feet high flat-footed. He's also a very loyal dog and loves to be around his people - us! While he enjoys some retrieving and games of tug-of-war, and he loves to swim and chew up sticks, mostly he's interested in going on his next adventure wherever we may take him.

Even though he's retired, Oakley is living out his older years with us. He started his life with his breeder in Hattieville, AR; and he's since been with us everywhere when we lived in Russellville/Hot Springs, Maumelle, Benton, Berryville, and now Huntsville. As I type this update to his profile, it is June 2024 and he is a healthy 12-year old pacing the house wanting outside with my husband :)
